Marimba Plus – a phenomenon that is absolutely unique on the Russian scene. Over the course of twenty-five years, the group has not only developed its own recognizable style, toured the entire country and several continents,
but also kept its core lineup unchanged.
The main credit goes to the founder of the group, composer and marimba player, who wrote the music for all eight albums of the group - Lev Slepner. The uniqueness of Lev's talent is confirmed not only by numerous awards (Triumph, CINANIMA, Kroq-anime and others), but also by the recognition of numerous listeners around the world who love his music and honour it as a source of true inspiration.
Over the past few years, the group has created a series of major projects that have received high praise from the general public:
– A series of festivals “EthnoDrive” together with stars of the world stage (Huun Huur Tu, Billy Cobham, Didier Lockwood, Sergey Starostin and others);
– The project “Viva Flamenco” with the Spanish flamenco star Adrian Sanchez (dance) on the Moscow stages of the Palace on Yauza, the Bauman Concert Hall and the Kremlin Palace;
– Participation in the festival “Twin Peaks Tribute” – the full soundtrack to the cult series by David Lynch was performed;
– A special project for the Moscow Planetarium “Gravity of Sound”, released in 2017 – the program was performed as part of a show with light and video synchronized to music;
– Four anniversary concerts in the Theater Hall of the Moscow International House of Music, which brought together famous guests who worked with the musicians in different years and took part in the recording of Marimba Plus albums (Arkady Shilkloper, Evgeny Lebedev, Petr Nalich, Eteri Beriashvili, Borislav Strulev, etc.).
The group has constantly participated and is participating in the recording of television show programs. Here are just a few of them:
– Dmitry Dibrov's author's program "Anthropology" (2000 and 2023);
– Theatrical award "Crystal Turandot". Marimba Plus takes part in it almost every year;
– The program of the TV channel "Russia Culture" Club "Shabolovka 37" with the host Vadim Eilenkrig.
The Marimba Plus team is a real orchestra, because there are eight musicians in the group, and therefore the venues for performances are always chosen in accordance with the wide scope of the program:
– Alexey Kozlov Club (acoustics and electronics);
– Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul (special acoustic program);
– Moscow International House of Music;
– Moscow Planetarium;
– Worker and Kolkhoz Woman (VDNKh);
– Kremlin Palace;
– Philharmonic societies throughout the country and other locations.
Over the past ten years, Marimba Plus has repeatedly participated in the country's leading festivals: "Wild Mint", "Usadba Jazz", "World of Siberia", "Moscow Jazz Fest", "Jazz in the Hermitage Garden", "City of Jazz", "Chess&Jazz", "New Classics", in the Botanical Garden of Moscow State University, etc. Marimba Plus has created an extraordinary atmosphere at many receptions and corporate events for companies such as Rusal, Gazprom, Megafon, Mercedes, BMW, BAYER, and many others. The musicians have performed with world stars such as Billy Cobham, Trilok Gurtu, Linley Marte, Paco Seri, Didier Lockwood, Cindy Blackman, Arkady Shilkloper, Monty Alexander, Patricia Kaas, Eteri Beriashvili, Borislav Strulev, the Tuvan ensemble Huun Huur Tu, Sergey Starostin, Taisiya Krasnopevtseva and many other leading performers and instrumentalists.
